Blog Entry 22:Final Project

I want to the farmer market last Friday with my friend. This is my first time to go to farmer market. They not only sell foods but also sell many different things, such as flowers, plants. There is one thing that I think is really special, woods. When I first saw that I thought they are meats. I thought that how come they can put meats on the table is not good. However, when I went closer and looked at them carefully, I found out that they are woods and they smell really good.

       When I walked around the farmer market I found out that products there are not like the products in the general market. The products in general market are mostly in the same shape, for example, carrots that we see in the general market are mostly in the same shape. However, the products in farmer market are mostly in different shapes. After visiting the farmer market I learned that not all perfect looking products are perfect.

I bought apples from the farmer market. They are fresh and tasted good. I made "apple chicken soup" and a drink at home. I put an apple, chicken, water and other things together and braised it about 30 minutes. For the drink I put lemon, honey and apple together. They tasted really good.

I have a good experience to visit farmer market. I learned many things and have fun in there. I think I will go there again.

Blog Entry 21

       After going back through my blog entries, I think my best entries are "The Truman Show","The Matrix" and "The meatrix". These three essays are about the truth. I like these essays because in this three essays I have more ideas and good respond.
        This is my first time to take a class that use computer to done our work. This is very different form writing on the paper. When I took esl099 we always write our essay on paper. When I wrote a paper it took a long time to finish it because if I make mistake I need to write it one more time. However, if I write online I can change any paragraph  I want any time. I think online work help improve my writing ability. I can develop more idea if I can change even the whole paragraph. I felt that the online work was a shared experience because everyone can see my work online. I read other students' work sometime and I got impress that other members of the class read my blog.
        Overall, my experience in this class is very good. I learned to develop my idea from professor and even learned by reading others blog entries. This class is very interesting and this is the best class that I have ever taken. Although my writing is not as well as other student, I think I am leaving this class with a basic understanding of writing strategies. Meanwhile, I have many good experience and memorable things in class. The most memorable moment is the films that we watched. In my other classes we also watched films in class, but they are not really interesting. However, the films that we watched in this semester were all really interesting and even made me want to see them again. I would recommend that he should be prepare himself to do the work online and be aware that everyone can see his work online, but it will be a very interesting class.

     In the movie "Sleep Dealer", "node" is decribe as the first step to be in American dream. Node is which people can get a job that work in other countries without being there and it is created by the technology. People use the node to work, sell memories and even kill people. I thought that technology and help our society get better. However, after reading Hangi Song's blog entry 18, I change my mind. As Hangi Song explains that they are not labors but slaves. I strongly agree with this. In the movie, the node job is a jod that you can work in any country. It seems good at the first time, but as I think more deeply about this I realized that they have no option. They just do the work that the machine wants them to do.They are just like slaves.  In addition, I also agree with Hangi Song's idea that the work environment  is very dangerous. Although the technology has developed well, it can have some problems. People do not even know what problem will it have and how to solve it.

Blog Entry 19

       In our world there are many countries have resources to make stuff, but the people do not own any of them even if they have been living in these countries for generation. As the result of this people do not have much money they become lower class in the society. However, the reason that causes this problem is that companies are buying the resources in a very low price and then sell them in a higher price.  The companies own all the benefits, but on the other side they are over exploiting the country and people ho live in there cannot get any benefit. They do not have option, the only thing they can do is work for the companies which take away the benefits and even destroy their places. However, the irony is that the companies pay very low wage and they cannot even buy the stuffs that are made by the resources that suppose to be their one resources. For example, in my country, there are many mountains and many are living there. However, in some places people are chased by companies because they want to exploit the area. The result of this is that people are getting poorer but the companies are getting much richer they can. I think that to over exploit the resours can cause many problems people should stop it and save our world.

Blog Entry 18 "Technology and Society"

In the movie "Sleep Dealer", people can work in any places if they have the "node". "Nobe" job is created by the technology. People are more like work in the computer. They can work at any country if they want, no matter how far it is, they can see or hear by the technology. In this picture, it shows the difference between the technology world and the real world. In the technology world everything is made by computer and is the real thing that we can touch or feel it. They are numbers, letters, and symbols. On the other side, the real world has the things that we can touch and feel. There are buildings, clouds, blue sky and the man is eating chips. Although there are many differences between them. I think if people use the technology well, it will have many benefits for our world.

          In our world there are many different kinds of foods. People need them every day. However, some people do not know where do these foods come from and how does it made up for. The problem is that some foods are harmful. If people do not realize the truth they may get hurt. However, some people may think that to know about the truth may hurt too. I think that it is better to be hurt by knowing the truth rather then not knowing anything.
      
            According to "The Allegory of the Cave", people do not believe the truth that they never knew before. Same as "The Trueman Show" Truman lived in the world that is not the real world and he dose not know anything about the real world. He thought that the world he lived is the real world. However, when he realized that he lived in a fake world most of his life. He wanted to go to the real world and fight with the truth. In the movie "The Matrix", Neo has the same situation as Truman. In addition, they chose the sane choice. Truman decided to go out of the fake world and Neo chose the red pill to go to the real world and save the world. Furthermore, the film "The meatrix" also wants people to realize the truth. It describes the truth of the foods that we eat. I think that people should know more about the truth and not live in a fake world.
          
           After reading all my blog entries, I think my essays are getting better. I can develop more ideas and I have more examples to support my claim. However, I still do not clear about the difference between thesis statement and claim. I know I should put my claim at the end of the first paragraph but where should I put the thesis statement?

In today's society, almost every people love to eat fast food. Some of the children are even raise by fast food. The problem is that fast food is harmful for people's health. In the article" Let Them Eat Fat " talks about how harmful the fast food does and how the fast food companies make people to eat their products. I think that people should not follow the gimmick to eat the fast food and make themselves unhealthy because the gimmick from the company is only to make people eat their products and there are many harmful things in the fast food.

      First, the gimmick from the company is only to make people eat their products more often. The reason why people love to eat fast is because it is fast, cheap and also because the gimmick. In the article, the company sales gimmick knows as " supersizing ". They change the small size to super size by given an extra seventy-nine cents. In this kind of gimmick, people think that it is really cheap and will eat it every day to save their money. However, they do not even think about how harmful these foods are. For children, the gimmick is mostly the toy with happy meal. In my experience, when I was in elementary school, every student in my class has the toy from McDonald's. Some of them even wanted to collect all of the toys they showed in McDonald's. At that time, our conversation is all about those toys and the things we played are only the toys we got from McDonald's. Children who did not have the toys could not join us. As a result, they wanted to get the toys to be able to join the community in school. Therefore, they need to go to McDonald's more often in order to get all of the toys and this is how the company makes this gimmick. In addition, some companies even state that their foods are healthy and everything in them is harmless. People who do not have much money may think that fast food is the best choice because it is cheap and is harmless. The reality is that this is just a gimmick that makes people eat fast food. Companies do not really care about if their foods have harmful things or not.

        Second, fast food is not good for people's health. In the article, it states that " the total caloric content of the meal has been jacked up from 680calories to more than 1340 calories. " This is really scare because base on what I know, a person only needs about 1500 calories per day and if a person is dieting he or she only need about 1000 calories. For me, I am dieting now. I control my daily calories within 1000 calories. If I eat a meal, it is going to run over my range. In addition, people can get fat easily if they eat fast food very often. Moreover, fast food has many harmful things in it such as fat, carbohydrate-rich. These things can affect our body and is perfectly not good for our health.

      In conclusion, fast food companies sales gimmicks to make people eat fast food however, people just follow the gimmick and do not think about their health. I advise that people should know more about the food that they eat and find out what is good for them. In addition, people should not just follow the gimmick. moreover, they should not eat fast food too often.

Blog Entry15

       In the film, "The Meatrix," it tells people about where meats or the animal products come from. People buy the product in the supermarket or where they can buy. Most of the people believe that these products are from family farm and are safe to eat them. However, this film shows that most of the animal products we eat are from factory farms and may have some problems. I strongly agree whit this film. I think that people should recreate the family farm and stop the factory farming because factory farm can cause many serious problems, such as the pollution and the health of people or even animals.
 
        In the factory farm animals are placed in one room, they put them as close as they can, some of the animals cannot even turn around. As a result of it the number of the animals in the factory can be a really large number and it cause a serious problem which is pollution. In the film, it states that there are 12 million pounds of excrement  in factory farming. It pollutes the water and even the air. In addition, it is not only pollutes the area where the factory farm is but also pollutes the area that around there. This pollution can cause a lot of problem. People cannot have clean water to drink or use. People can get sick if they drink the polluted water. However, the problem will not be easy to solve, animals in the factory farm pollute the water and they drink the polluted water and get sick and pollute the world again, it can be repeat over and over. In the other hand, family farm does not have too much problem like this. The number of the animals in the family farm is small. In addition, in family farms animals are placed on the grass they eat the grass and the excrement in the farm can grow the grass. As a result, family farm does not pollute the water or the air, and it makes everything goes in to natural.

      The other reason is the health of  human and even animals. In the film, it shows that animals are not treated well. Factory farms do not think animals are life they just want to make money by them. They put then in a place that is full of excrement. Animals do not grow up with happiness, they never see the sun, never stand on the ground and even never turn around. The animals that are in this situation can be nervous, unhappy. In addition, there are too many animals in the factory farm as a result some of them are sick without being noticed. They are not healthy. Therefore, when people eat the products from the factory farm, they may get the sick animal's product and be sick. However, family farm do not have this kind of problem. Animals in the family farm are a number that the farmer can takes care. Farmer can know right away if the animals are sick. Moreover, animals in family farms are more happier, they grow in natural and they are healthy. People do not get sick by eating the products from family farm.

     In conclusion, family farm has more benefits. The products are healthier then the products from factory farm. People can be safe to eat these product.In addition, animals can grow up more happier and healthier in the family farm.

   I think the reason why they use "The Matrix" to make "The Meatrix" film is because they want to tell people that the things that they see in the world are not always the truth. In addition, they also want to make people to watch the film. I think that almost everybody watched "The Matrix" therefore, using this movie to show the film is the better way to make people interested in it.

       In the movie, "The Matrix," Neo lived in a world that is not the real world. Everything in there was made by the matrix and is not real. When he realized that the world he lived is a artificial world, he could not accept the truth at first. However, after knowing something about the real, he wants to know more about it. Therefore, when he makes a choice between blue pill and red pill, he takes the red pill which goes to the real world. In my life, if I have to make a choice between blue pill and red pill, I would choose the red pill and go to the real world. No one wants to live in a world without knowing any truth. In addition, people are usually curious, they always want to find out the truth.

       I am sure that people do not want and do not like to live in a fake world. Living in a world that is not true does not have any meaning and cannot achieve our goals. Even though the truth may hurt ourselves, I would still want to know about the reality and go to the real world. In the movie, Neo gets hurt by the truth. He cannot image that the world that he had been lived most of his life is a artificial world and everything is fake. He does not accept the real world. However, he faces the reality later on and saves himself. If I am in Neo's situation I think I would do the same thing that he does.

       People are curious and always want to know about the truth. When people are not sure about something they will try really hard to find out the answer. This is our human being. In the beginning of the movie, Neo wants to know who is controlling his computer, so he follow the rabbit and find out the answer. When he knows about the matrix, he is eager to find out what is the matrix. Over more, he wants to know the truth about the artificial world that he perceives. In our lives, children are one of the examples. Children always want to find out the answer. Although their parents tell them not to do this, they still want to do it and find out what will happen next. I am also a human, therefore, if I am Neo I would be really curious about the matrix and the truth.

        In conclusion, to live in a fake world does not have any meaning. People do not have to live in a fake world, they can find out the truth by themselves, like Neo. In addition, it is good for people to be curious. They can find out the truth or the answer that they want.

Blog Entry 12: Reflection and Evaluation

          I think my summary is getting better and I can think more example to support my claim. However, I still need more development at the paragraph level with examples. The challenges that I was facing in this class is that when I wrote an essay in class I could not think about what can I write. I could not develop the idea. In the other word I am really not a good critical thinker. Sometimes I can only think about one thing to write but I know it is not enough to write a good essay I really need to have more idea and think more criticaly. In addition, sometimes I got confuse about where should I put the summary, in the first paragraph or the second paragraph. Moreover, I think I really need to learn more vocabulary to higher my essay's level. I always use the low level word. As a result, my essay looks like a low level essay. When I was writing an essay I always knew that my vocabulary is bad, this word is not in my level however, I could not think the other word, this is my problem so I really need to solve it. Sometimes I have grammar mistakes that I already learnd and remenbered all the time, but I did not realize at that time and I did not have time to reread it. As a reault, I really need to be carefore about this problem. I hope I can get better and pass this class.

       In the passage," The dangers of reality TV ", talks about the dangerous massage from reality television. Reality television becomes more and more popular in our life. It gives people massages. The problem is that some of them give positive massage, but some of them do not. They even give dangerous massages. In the article, the author states that '' education is unnecessary to fulfill the American dream.'' However, education is important to our lives. This dangerous massage can mold the minds of the young fans and influence their lives.       
  
        Many people like to watch television and even watch it everyday. When they watch it, they can get many different massages and information from it. People who watch television are in many different ages, some of them are really young and still children. Children do not really know what is good or bad or what is true. They may think that anything that shows on the television is true and right. For example. in this article, it mentions that education is unnecessary to fulfill the American dream. For the young audience they will think that this massage is true and can influence their lives.

       In my experience, when I was young, there was a show that is about couples. They have different couples everyday. The same thing is that when they have different opinions they always fight. My brother and I were really liked this show, we watched everyday. However, we were too young to think about what is true and right at that tine. We thought that the show is real and what they did is the right thing. As a result, we always fight when we have different point of views. This dangerous massage affected me and influenced my life.

         In conclusion, reality television is dangerous. It gives some massages that influence our lives and these massages are misleading our brain. I hope that people can control their mind instead of follow the reality television.

Claim : If I need to make a choice between red pill and blue pill I would choose the red pill.

Reason : I don't want to live in a world that everything is not true. I would want to know about the truth,even  though the truth may hurt me I would still want to know that.

Evidence : In the movie, Neo chose the red pill. When he first heard about the truth he didn't want to believe that, but later, when he try to face the truth he wants to know more about it.

Blog 9: Telecommute Report-out

     From the matrix discussion on Thursday everything was well and I learned more about the movie. Students in class discussed the idea clearly and it helps me understand the idea. Before discussion I was not clear about some idea., but after that I understand now. In the dicussion, the question " to take the blue pill or the red pill? " there are many different points of view someone wants to face the truth someone is afraid of facing the truth and they would rather live in a fake world than knowing the truth. This is fun, I really enjoy the movie and the dicussion after.

Blog Entry 8 : Responding to a significant topic in The Truman Show(Topic 1)

        In "The Truman Show", Truman lives in a perfect world. People always show their pleasure. When Truman walks on the street people know him and are very kind for him. He has a good and beautiful wife. When he has problem his best friend always helps him. Everything in Truman's life seems perfect and has no problem. However, all these perfect things are not real. Truman is not living in a real world and does not realize that.
           
       I think that I would not want to live in Truman's world. Everything in there is not real. Everyone except Truman know the reality and they know what are they doing in this world. Truman does not know anything, he lives in there most of his life and never got out. People in there are all actor and actress, include his wife and his best friend. His wife does not actually loves him and his friend is just an actor. I think it is a really terrible feeling. When I thinks someone loves me or someone is my best friend I will really trust them and tell them everything I want them to know. I cannot image that they are just acting with me and I cannot accept that.
     
       I believe that the world that Cristoff  has created tells that in our real society there are too many problem and is dangerous. People are always facing on challenge and sometimes they may be in danger. Cristoff want a perfect and peaceful world. He does not want Truman stay in the real world that is dangerous. I think if Cristoff leaves in Truman's world everything will change. Truman will know the reality and he will not lives without knowing that he is not in the real world and everyone in the real world are watching his whole life. In addition he can have a new life in the real world.

       In conclusion, I think that to live in a fake world is really terrible. Everything is not real and people are not actually showing their heart. I would never want to live in the life that Truman lives.

 I think I need to write more response and need to work hard for organization and some grammar. In addition I need to have more example to support my claim. And I also need to learn more new vocabulary. I will do my best and I hope my essay can be better and I hope I can pass the CAW-Text in this semester.

Blog Entry 6: Review Socrates

    In the article, "The Allegory of the Cave" the author describes a group of people who have been chain in a cave most of their life and there is a fire behind them. They can not turn around their heads, they can only see before. Therefore, the only thing they can see is the shadow. They do not know the real, all they believe is the thing in cave. They do not know any reality. If they get out of the cave and see all the reality they will not think that is truth, but when they understands the reality they will realize that the thing what they saw before is no the real truth. In this situation most of the people may not want to believe the truth and want to go back to the cave. Only few of them want to see more reality. I think that people should not always think what they believed is the real truth.
    In my live, when I was young I really believed Santa Claus. I believed that Santa Claus will come to my house and give me present on Christmas Day. My teacher and my parents told me that if I am good Santa Claus will give me the present that I want, but if I am bad he will not give me any present. Therefore, every Christmas Day I wrote a letter to Santa Claus and asked my parents to send it to him. I also wrote a note to thank for the present and hanged it on the Christmas Tree. Every Christmas Eve I could not sleep well because of the present. Every time, when I saw my present in the morning I really thought Santa Claus did come to my house last night.

    One year, before the Christmas Day I did the same thing that I used to do. I wrote a letter and asked my parents to send it to Santa Claus, wrote a thank note and even put some cookies on the table. On Christmas Eve I was really excited that I did not sleep all night. In the early morning, I woke up and went to the Christmas Tree but I did not see any thing there I was so sad and I thought is because I was not so good that year. I want back to my room. Later on, I heard the conversation from my parents, my mother asked my father if he put the present under the tree but my father answered that he did not put that yet. I heard all their conversation and then fell asleep. When I woke up and saw my present I did not want to believe what I heard in the morning. Next day I asked some of my friends and all of them said that the conversation that I heard is the real truth. There is no Santa Claus and they never saw Santa Claus before. That time I was really shock of that. I could not image that what I really believed is not the truth.

    I advise that people should get off the cave and face the reality. Staying in the same place only can make people foolish, and do not know anything about the world.

People can see advertisements where their eyes can see. Advertisements are effective and influence people's brain.
  
        I think advertisements really affect people's lives. When we see an advertisement we believe what it says. If this advertisement says that this product is really healthy and has good taste, people may think about this product when they are buying another product. However, some of them are untruthful advertisements and even not good for health. As a result people who want to lose their weight really believe the product which says it can lose weight as much as people want can get some problems from it. This is really common in today's day. I feel really terrible and angry about this. People always believe the advertisement some of them are good and people get many benefits from them but some of them make problems and even put people in danger.

        I advise that people should think carefully before they buy the product which they buy it because the good advertisement. In addition, companies do not exaggerate and make untruthful advertisements. I also want people to realize that advertisements are not always right, think carefully when the advertisements says that people can do whatever they want by using that product.

What I expect to get out of this class
